The expansion of the Mt. Ashland Ski Area in Southern Oregon's Siskiyou Mountains would clear-cut old-growth forests, intrude into a pristine roadless area, impact rare plant & animal habitat, and threaten the purity of the city of Ashland's water supply.
The ski area receives unpredictable snowfall, has required three financial bailouts, & has relied heavily on federal & state funds to carry their expansion proposal to this point.
The Environmental Protection Agency has expressed serious concerns over this expansion. There is widespread concern in local communities.  Sustainable alternatives do exist.
Yet, the proponents keep pushing forward.
