What You Can Do -- Take Action!

Please don't hesitate in voicing your concerns over the proposed Mount Ashland Ski Area Expansion--time is limited!  Here's what you can do:

Mount Ashland Ski Area Expansion Comment Workshops
Empowering citizens to protect the Ashland Watershed

Wednesday, April 14, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road

Sunday, April 18, from 1 to 4 pm
Ashland
Public Library, Gresham Room

On March 26, the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest published new analysis to justify expanding the ski area on Mount Ashland despite the 2007 ruling by a federal appeals court that the plan violates environmental laws intended to protect water quality and endangered animals.

The expansion would clear-cut 70 football fields of old growth forest and trigger landslides that can pollute Ashland’s water with sediment.  Expansion also would intrude on the wild McDonald Peak Roadless Area and displace Pacific fisher, an endangered forest carnivore.

This workshop will provide resources for effective citizen action to protect the Ashland Watershed from industrial development.

Please bring your questions and enthusiasm, and plan to spend a couple hours working with neighbors to stop the expansion.

Comments are due to the Forest Service by Friday, May 6.  The DSEIS is available here: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/rogue-siskiyou/projects/mtashlandski/dseis.pdf
